Getting Started in Merge an SCP
Join the Roblox lab, buy SCP-999, merge the first copies, pick orbs, and ignore the noise that wastes a first hour.
Merge an SCP (Roblox listing: SCP Merge) is already out. Merge Empire shipped the place on 2024-09-13 as a free-to-play simulation tycoon. You do not need a Steam key, a console, or a pre-register code. You need a Roblox account, a server with an open lab slot, and a first purchase of SCP-999 — the orange tickle-monster blob that starts the merge track.
This page is a first-session walkthrough. It is not a full merge table (that lives on How to Merge SCPs) and it is not a cash spreadsheet (see How to Farm Cash). The job here is to leave your first hour with a living lab instead of an empty pad and a confusion tab.
Join the right place
Search Roblox for SCP Merge by Merge Empire, or open the experience from this wiki’s play link. Confirm you are on the simulation / tycoon, not a horror maze that happens to use SCP names. Avatar type is R6 morphs. Listed server size is 8. Each player gets a lab slot, so the other seven people are neighbors, not a shared inventory. Stay in your slot. Do not treat someone else’s merge pile as a public chest.
If the server is full, hop. A first session is easier when you can see the floor orbs around your own pad. Typical Roblox movement applies: walk with WASD or a mobile thumbstick, look with the mouse or a drag, jump with space or the on-screen jump button. Shop and merge clicks are covered on Controls if the camera fights you.
Buy SCP-999 and do nothing else yet
The first shop action that matters is buying SCP-999. That is Tier 1 on the badge track. Do not open a morph catalog, do not hunt codes, and do not paste an executor. No public promo codes were confirmed as of 2026-09-06, so a code hunt in minute one is a stall. Scripts that auto-buy or auto-merge exist; they also carry account risk and belong on the Scripts Hub warning pages, not in a first-hour checklist.
Buy one 999. Watch where it sits in your lab. Buy more of the same when you have cash. Early public sessions commonly need three matching copies before a merge fires. If nothing happens after two copies, wait for a third instead of assuming the game is broken. Later rungs commonly drop to two copies; you will feel that after the first hour, not during it.
Pick the floor before you stare at the shop
Cash does not only come from selling. Orbs and eggs spawn on the floor. Walk them. If you stand still in the shop UI, you will think the economy is dead while income sits two studs away. This is the whole early engine: buy matching 999s, merge when the copies exist, scoop orbs, repeat. Facility upgrades can wait until you have a rhythm. A weapon can wait until you have seen one containment alarm and still have cash left; players commonly grab a cheap SMG around 5,000, which is a mid-session buy, not a spawn buy.
A large shop stack — on the order of a hundred copies in public clips — can auto-merge as it lands. That is a later power move when you dump cash. On session one, buying in small matching sets is easier to see. If you accidentally dump a huge stack and the lab jumps a tier, do not panic. Count what you have, then read How to Merge SCPs before you spend the rest of the wallet skipping rungs you do not understand.
The first breach is part of the tutorial, not a bug
Periodic containment / boss rounds interrupt the tycoon loop. An alarm is not optional flavor. If you ignore it, you spend the next minutes recovering instead of merging. You do not need a damage table. You need to be in your lab, holding a cheap gun if you already bought one, and not AFK in a morph menu. Full positioning notes live on Boss Rounds. For the first alarm, the rule is simpler: stop shopping, face the threat, survive, then go back to orbs.
Other players can help by existing in the same server, but they will not clear your slot for you. Treat the eight-person server as parallel labs, not a raid group.
What to ignore on purpose
Ignore code videos that promise free bags. Ignore infinite-money executors. Ignore skipping straight toward high-tier names you saw in a thumbnail. Public clips commonly cite SCP-035 around the middle of the track, SCP-049 around Tier 7, SCP-096 around Tier 8, and SCP-939 in paid skip footage. Those are observations, not a first-hour shopping list. You will still be on 999s and the next few rungs while those names are someone else’s flex.
Ignore costume hunting until a merge actually unlocks a look you want to wear. Morphs are real — SCP-173, SCP-1048, and SCP-131 show up in sessions, and SCP-682 appears in promo art — but a costume does not replace a missing third 999. Park that curiosity on Morphs and Costumes after the lab prints cash.
Ignore comparing your badge to the full Tier 1–Tier 15 board. Award counts drop sharply after Tier 5–8. Most first sessions never touch that cliff. Your win condition today is a repeating merge, a habit of picking orbs, and one breach you did not AFK through.
A simple first-hour order
- Join SCP Merge on Roblox and claim a lab slot.
- Buy SCP-999. Repeat until you have a matching set.
- Merge. If early copies sit idle, wait for a third match.
- Walk the floor. Collect orbs and eggs before the next shop click.
- Rebuy the new lowest tier you still need. Do not skip with your entire wallet.
- When the alarm hits, stop shopping and defend.
- After the wave, scoop dropped cash and return to the shop.
- Buy a cheap SMG only after you can still afford copies.
- Open How to Merge SCPs and How to Farm Cash before session two.
Use the merge planner if you like a worksheet. Use the SCP tier list only as a commonly observed map, not as a promise that your next merge is a Shy Guy.
After your first lab hour
A good first session ends with a higher blob than 999, a floor you already know how to vacuum, and a mental note of how the alarm feels. A bad first session ends with an empty pad, a script menu, and a comment section argument about codes that do not exist. Leave the executor closed. Leave the morph shop closed. If cash is the bottleneck, the next tab is How to Farm Cash. If copies refuse to combine, the next tab is How to Merge SCPs. If the alarm is what wrecked you, skip both and open Boss Rounds. Come back to this getting-started page only when you are teaching a friend the same first hour — not when you are already staring at Tier 8 names in someone else’s thumbnail.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Merge an SCP questions.
What should I buy first in Merge an SCP?
Buy SCP-999, the orange tickle-monster that starts Tier 1. Do not open morphs, codes, or skip products before that first matching set. Details stay on this page; merge rules continue in How to Merge SCPs.
Why will my first copies not merge?
Early rungs commonly need three matching copies in public sessions. Two copies sitting still is often incomplete, not a bug. Later rungs commonly need two. Read the full note on How to Merge SCPs.
Are there codes I should redeem in the first hour?
No public promo codes were confirmed as of 2026-09-06. Do not stall the lab hunting one. If a field appears in the UI, the steps are on how to redeem.
Should I use an auto-merge script as a beginner?
No. Auto-merge and money tools exist and can cost the account. Learn the loop by hand first. Warnings live on the Scripts Hub and auto merge pages.
When do I buy a gun?
After you have seen a containment alarm and still have cash for copies. Players commonly pick up a cheap SMG around 5,000. Fight notes are on Boss Rounds.
Is this game still unreleased?
No. SCP Merge has been live on Roblox since 2024-09-13. This walkthrough assumes a released free-to-play lab, not a pre-launch FAQ.
